Bednarik Lays Ou...The New York Giants were trailing the Philadelphia Eagles by a touchdown when Giants running back Frank Gifford nabbed a rogue ball out of the air, running for the sideline to stop the clock. He never made it. Eagles linebacker Chuck Bednarik violently slammed Gifford, sending the ball into the air and Gifford onto the injured list for 18 months. Crushed Jaguar D...The Jacksonville Jaguars surprised fans with their unlikely run to the 1996 AFC Championship game. The Jags, who had only been around for two years, stayed within one touchdown of the seasoned New England Patriots as the two-minute warning approached. Running back James Stewart was running down the field when he suddenly lost control of the ball. New England cornerback Otis Smith scooped it up and ran 47 yards into the end zone to clinch the title and crush the Jags' dream. Romo Blows ItQuarterbacks often take the fall for their teams... just ask Tony Romo. Dallas' QB infamously bungled the snap on a game-winning field goal against the Seattle Seahawks in 2006, costing the Cowboys a playoff victory. Miracle at the M...The New York Giants led the Philadelphia Eagles, 17-12, with less than a minute left on the clock. Giants quarterback Joe Pisarcik lost control of the ball during a hand off to fullback Larry Csonka, prompting Philadelphia defensive back Herm Edwards to steal the loose ball and run it in for an epic Eagles touchdown. The FumbleThe Denver Broncos led the Cleveland Browns 21-3 at halftime of the 1987 AFC Championship. But the pending blowout wouldn't stick. Bernie Kosar rallied the Browns, tossing a remarkable four second-half touchdowns. With the Broncos up seven with one minute remaining, Browns running back Earnest Byner took a hand-off and bolted for the end zone. But just before he hit goal line, Broncos defensive back Jeremiah Castille hit him, forcing the ball loose and crushing Cleveland’s chances at a Super Bowl. You know it was a bad fumble when the play is simply known as 'The Fumble.' Leon Lett's Amaz...Hall of Fame running back Thurman Thomas helped the Buffalo Bills to four consecutive Super Bowls, but he was also partly responsible for them not winning one. The Bills led the Dallas Cowboys, 13-6, at halftime of Super Bowl XXVIII. A minute into the third quarter, Thomas was stripped by the Cowboys’ Leon Lett. Dallas defensive back James Washington scooped the fumble and ran 46 yards for a touchdown. The momentum shifted and Dallas went on to win the Super Bowl. Leon Lett's Amaz...This one didn't really have an impact on the game, but it sure was memorable. Late in the fourth quarter of Dallas' rout of Buffalo in Super Bowl XXVI, Lett recovered a fumble and seemed destined to rumble for a touchdown. But he slowed near the 10-yard line as he attempted to watch himself on the Jumbotron. Since the Bills' Don Bebee never gave up on the play, he was able to catch the slow-footed defensive lineman, knock the ball loose and through the end zone, resulting in a touchback and an embarrassing fumble for Lett. The touchdown that wasn't would have given the Cowboys the record for most points scored in a Super Bowl game. (AP Photo/Douglas C. Wright's Right M...49ers' defensive back Eric Wright astonished fans when he executed a near-perfect strip tackle on Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Cris Collinsworth. San Francisco landed on the ball and marched 92 yards down the field to take control of Super Bowl XVI. Three-Peat Ruine...The 49ers were going for their third consecutive Super Bowl win in the 1990 season. They started the year 10-0, finished 14-2 and reached the NFC Championship against the New York Giants. The Giants, who were playing without starting quarterback Phil Simms, knocked out Joe Montana as well. The 49ers still held a 13-12 lead with three minutes to go when running back Roger Craig was hit by the Giants' Erik Howard behind the line of scrimmage, resulting in a fumble. Lawrence Taylor fell on it to give the Giants possession. The 49ers offense could only watch as the Giants drove down the field, kicked the winning field goal and dashed the 49ers' hopes of a three-peat. Buffalo Nailbite...With four minutes left and a 10-0 lead over the Denver Broncos, the Buffalo Bills were fighting for their second straight AFC title. John Elway went down with an injury and previously unreliable backup Gary Kubiak took over for the Broncos. Kubiak proved everyone wrong, however, leading the Broncos on an 85-yard scoring drive to make it 10-7. Denver then successfully recovered an onside kick with two minutes left, threatening the Bills’ lead. On the ensuing drive, out of nowhere came Buffalo defensive back Kirby Jackson to force Denver running back Steve Sewell to fumble the ball, allowing Buffalo to hold on for the W. White Wipes OutThe 1982 NFC Championship Game between the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers was a classic known to this day as 'The Catch' game. But even after the Joe Montana to Dwight Clark now legendary play, the Cowboys still had a chance to win. With 51 seconds to play, Dallas got the ball and quarterback Danny White hit Drew Pearson on a deep pass. But two plays later, White was sacked by Lawrence Pillars, fumbling the ball and catapulting San Francisco to a victory that began its dynasty.
