The Worst Deals ...By Cassidy Taylor, XFINITY Sports Pro athletes are some of the richest men and women in the world. The very best in the business deserve top dollar, but not all athletes are worth the money they demand. (AP Photos)

Tim Tebow - New ...When the Jets traded for Tim Tebow and signed him to a five-year contract worth $11.25 million, the football world stopped in its tracks. The signing made little sense at the time and proved as much as the 2012 season got underway. The former Florida star found himself buried deeper on the Jets' QB depth chart than he thought and spent the majority of his time in New York on the bench. It's expected that the Jets will attempt to cut their losses and trade or release him in the 2013 offseason. (AP Photo/Elaine Thompson)

Steve Nash, Dwig...The Steve Nash and Dwight Howard trades looked great on paper. It's still early the Lakers have struggled to get their superstars working as a cohesive unit. Shades of the 2010 Miami Heat, perhaps? (AP Photo/Mark J. Terrill)

Heath Bell - Mia...Not much went right for the Marlins in 2012. Miami's league-worst record was compounded by a postseason firesale that sent many of its star players to new teams. Among them was Heath Bell, who didn't live up to the three-year, $27 million contract and was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks in October. (AP Photo/Wilfredo Lee)

Shea Weber - Nas...The Predators put up a good fight for their disgruntled captain, giving him the moon in a 14-year, $110 million contract. However, the cards did not fall in Nashville's favor. As the NHL labor battle winds into the new year, Weber is guaranteed $13 million for the 2012-13 season and has the option to move on since his contract is devoid of a no-trade clause. It's rumored that Weber wants out of Nashville, which could mean the Preds paid $13 million to keep a guy who will likely leave as soon as the lockout is lifted. (AP Photo/Mark Humphrey)
