Boris Onischenko
After winning gold in the men’s modern pentathlon at the 1972 Munich Games, the Soviets were well on their way to defending their title at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. Russia's Boris Onishchenko was leading British captain Jim Fox in the fencing portion of the competition when Fox's teammates noticed Onishchenko's sword register a point without him landing a hit. When officials intervened it was discovered that the Russian had rigged his sword electronically to score hits. The Russians were disqualified and Britain went on to win gold. (AP Photo)
