Doug Sanders

American golfer Doug Sanders earned unfortunate notoriety when he failed to close out a sure win at the 1970 British Open at St. Andrews. Sanders was leading the field by four strokes and was three-fourths of the way through the final hole when he needed three shots from just 74-yards out to reach the 18th green.
