Lovie Smith, Hea...One too many second half collapses finally caught up to Lovie Smith. According to CSNChicago.com and other sources, new general manager Phil Emery fired Smith based on a “body of work” that didn’t quite amount to a contract extension after the Bears missed yet another postseason in the final week. In nine years as head coach, Smith reached the playoffs just three times, and only once in the past six seasons. He leaves Chicago with a career record of 81-63. (AP Photo/Nam Y. Huh)

Pat Shurmur, Hea...New owner Jimmy Haslam and CEO Joe Banner wasted little time changing the course of a franchise that hasn't seen much productivity since returning to the NFL as an expansion team in 1999. The Browns severed ties with Pat Shurmur and GM Tom Heckert after losing their season finale to the Steelers and finishing 2012 a disappointing 5-11. Andy Reid, Head ...After 14 seasons in Philadelphia, the Eagles announced on Monday that Andy Reid will not return as head coach for the 2013 season. After commending Reid for being the winningest coach in franchise history, owner Jeffrey Lurie simply said that it was "time for the Eagles to move in a new direction." (AP Photo/Brian Blanco)

Ken Whisenhunt, ...Despite coaching Arizona to two of its three winning seasons in the past 28 years, team president Michael Bidwill was reluctant to turn a blind eye on head coach Ken Whisenhunt after a messy 2012. Burdened by the hefty signing of Kevin Kolb and his poor play at the quarterback position, the Cardinals blew a surprising 4-0 start only to lose 11 of their last 12 to finish the season a disappointing 5-11. To Whisenhunt's credit, however, the 50-year-old coach was the winningest in Arizona history (45-51) and went 4-2 in the postseason, including an appearance in Super Bowl XLIII in 2009. Rod Graves, who spent 16 years with the franchise, was also dismissed. (AP Photo/Paul Connors)

Norv Turner, Hea...The Chargers had no choice following a third straight season of missing the playoffs to close the book on Norv Turner and A.J. Smith. San Diego, fresh off a 7-9 season, haven't won a playoff game since the 2008 season. Once upon a time though, they did have a good run. Turner was 56-40 with the Chargers in his six years as head coach. Smith had been the general manager since 2003. (AP Photo)

Romeo Crennel, H...Romeo Crennel's brief tenure in Kansas City is over after the Chiefs finished 2012 tied with the Jaguars for the league's worst record (2-14). It was a season marred by multiple blowout losses and a tragic murder-suicide involving former linebacker Jovan Belcher. The Chiefs only wins came against the Panthers and Saints. Crennel is a career 28-55 in five-plus seasons as an NFL head coach. (AP Photo/Ed Zurga)

Mike Tannenbaum,...Someone had to take the fall for the failed Tim Tebow experiment. It appears Tony Sparano will take some of the hit, but Woody Johnson made his disappointment clear when he fired general manager Mike Tannenbaum on Monday. Despite wrapping up a tumultuous 2012 two games below .500, Rex Ryan will reportedly return as head coach. (AP Photo/Bill Kostroun)

Chan Gailey, Hea...The Bills have fired Chan Gailey after three losing seasons. Gailey was often at the center of the Bills’ woes, questioned for his poor game management, inconsistent play at the quarterback position, and, most notably, his mishandling of star running back C.J. Spiller. Gailey went 16-32 at Buffalo and failed to bring the franchise its first playoff berth in a league-worst 13 years. (AP Photo/Paul Connors)

Gene Smith, Gene...Gene Smith's four-year run as the Jaguars general manager ended with a franchise-worst 2-14 season. Since taking over as GM in 2009, Smith went a dismal 22-42 and failed to send a single player to the Pro Bowl. According to the Associated Press, first-year coach Mike Mularkey could be next on the firing line after losing eight straight games by 16 or more and posting the worst record in the Jags' 18-year history.
