Originally the Minneapolis Lakers, the team moved to Los Angeles in 1960 and has only missed the playoffs a handful of times since. Some of the most famous names in the history of the sport played for the Lakers, including Magic Johnson, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Kobe Bryant. The team has won the second most NBA championships (behind the Celtics), 11 times as the Los Angeles Lakers (and four times as Minneapolis). In the past 11 seasons, the Lakers have failed to make the NBA finals only five times, and only failed to win it twice. The team is currently the second most valuable in basketball.
