UCLA Basketball ... John Wooden coached the Bruins to an unprecedented seven-straight NCAA titles. Two of the most successful players during this period were legendary centers Bill Walton and Lewis Alcindor (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar). With Team USA fielding a collegiate roster, the veteran Soviets were expected to coast to victory as they had done in previous years.
