4. 1972 Summer Olympics
Clock issues, impromptu buzzers, phantom timeout calls and replayed inbounds passes made the final three seconds of the gold medal game between USA and Russia perhaps the most controversial finish at any Olympic games. The Russians were awarded the win, and the Americans protested and later skipped the medal ceremony. It was the first time in Olympic history that Team USA did not win the gold in men's hoops. Because of the controversial ending, it's one of the most memorable moments in U.S. Olympic history. (AP File Photo)
