Losers: Refs in D.C.
The Redskins' playoff hopes were squashed and their comeback drive against the Giants was foiled thanks in part to a bizarre officiating error Sunday night. With less than two minutes on the clock, the ’Skins were marching down the field. RG3 completed what was ruled a first-down pass – the sideline marker was set to “1” – and the Redskins promptly dialed up a deep passing play on the following first down. Only after that play failed did they learn that the refs had made a blunder, and that they were now facing a fourth and one. The confusion likely robbed Washington of a chance to tie the game, as a flustered Pierre Garcon proceeded to essentially hand the Giants the ball for a game-sealing turnover. (Getty Photo)
