He was originally considered a temporary fill-in when starter Kevin Kolb was sidelined in Week 7 last season by foot and toe injuries. But the Cardinals won three of the next four games with Skelton at quarterback and then two of their final three during another starting stretch. Although his passing statistics were mediocre (11 touchdowns, 14 interceptions and a 54.9 completion percentage), Skelton showed enough promise that there will be an open competition with Kolb during the preseason. - Alex Marvez
