Meet the Horses ... This year’s Kentucky Derby, the opening race of the Triple Crown trilogy, will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. These horses will run on a dirt track 1.25 miles for a chance to be in the winner’s circle as well as increasing their odds of being named the first Triple Crown winner since 1978.

Zayat Stables' Bodemeister is the current favorites for this race, both entering the week with 4/1 odds. Check out all of this years participants. (AP Images)
