Canadian Coach: ... Upset With Ref Following Loss to Americans

After criticizing Team USA prior to Monday's match, Canadian coach John Herdman was at it again afterwards. The coach was upset with referee Christiana Pedersen for a penalty awarded to the U.S. that led to the Americans' third goal.

"The ref will have to sleep in bed tonight after watching the replays," Herdman said. "She's got that to live with that. We'll move on from this, I wonder if she'll be able to. You feel that it was taken from you. If the United States were honest, they'd know they got lucky tonight, in many ways, and that's what hurts the most."

Grenada Wins Fir... Kirani James Wins 400m Gold

Kirani James claimed Grenada's first medal in Olympic history by winning the 400-meter gold.

The reigning world champion is also a two-time NCAA champion for the University of Alabama. The U.S. had won the past seven Olympic titles in the men's 400, but did not have a representative in the final.

Runner Reinstate... D'Qed After Quitting During 800m Heats

Algerian runner Taoufik Makhloufi was reinstated for the 1,500-meter final after he had been disqualified for allegedly not trying hard enough in Monday's 800m heats.

Makhloufi stopped running in the first lap of his 800 heat, claiming a knee injury. The referee ruled that the 24-year-old was guilty of "failure to compete honestly with bona fide effort."

The disqualification was later revoked, allowing him to compete in the 1,500 final.
