Fiction: Men with Prostate Cancer Always Experience Symptoms

“Most of the time, men don’t have symptoms,” says J. Brantley Thrasher, M.D., chair of the department of urology at the University of Kansas Medical Center and spokesperson for the American Urological Association (AUA). Some men, however, do experience changes in urinary or sexual function, including frequent nighttime urination, painful or burning urination, difficulty getting or maintain an erection or a dull pain in the lower pelvic area. Even one of those symptoms warrants a call to the doctor.
