Other popular picks riff off the Pit's strength: Zeus, Diesel, Rocky and King. When the phrase “man’s best friend” was coined, it could have easily referred to the smart (and sweet!) German Shepherd Dog, who's well deserving of his popular human name, Max. Of course the most popular name for male Boxers pays homage to the most well-known boxer in movie history — Rocky. It’s also no surprise that the pick in second place is Tyson, followed by Max, Duke and Diesel. The most popular female names don’t reference fighters — although Layla does make the list at number nine, which could be a nod to Laila Ali — but most of them will sound familiar: Bella (number one), Roxy, Daisy, Bailey and Lucy.
