Don't Make Snap Judgements

Even though you don’t want to commit too fast, don’t be so quick to dismiss a guy altogether because he’s on the short side, has an errant nose hair or a less prestigious job than yours. Not that you should ever settle, you might just be surprised at who becomes more attractive to you when you finally let go of some long-time “deal-breakers” and truly get to know someone. “We talked with one woman with a Ph.D. for our book who told us she wouldn’t have even looked at her second husband 20 years ago because he didn’t even have a college degree," says Ann Blumenthal Jacobs, co-author of Love for Grown-Ups: The Garter Brides Guide to Marrying for Life When You Already Have a Life. "But today she sees he’s wonderful and caring, and he’s just what she wants.”
