African-American Contributions to Science

W.E.B Du Bois: NAACP

W.E.B Du Bois (1868-1963), the first African-American to earn a doctorate, was one of the co-founders of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. The prolific author battled racism on all fronts, including writing the first scientific treatise in the field of sociology. The Civil Rights Movement was enacted one year after his death. (Photo: C.
