2. Jack London Inn, Oakland, CA
The Jack London Inn is named after the famous American novelist and short story writer, who spent much of his youth in Oakland. On July 13, one reviewer wrote that this hotel—rated the second dirtiest by TripAdvisor members in 2010—had a bed “so bad it was literally falling apart and you could see the springs in the mattress. We went to Bed Bath and Beyond and bought an aero bed to sleep on.”
