Clarence Clemons almost single-handedly turned the saxophone into a major component of rock and roll through his work on the E Street Band’s 1975 breakthrough album “Born to Run.” His signature solo in the title track may be the most recognizable, but his playing on the nine-minute closing track “Jungleland” redefines epic. —Jeff Royer
