Rockers Versus Politicians

Don Henley vs. Chuck DeVore

During his 2009-2010 run for the California senate, republican candidate Chuck DeVore parodied two Don Henley hits, “The Boys of Summer” (which became “Hope of November”) and “All She Wants to Do Is Dance” (“All She Wants to Do Is Tax”). An un-amused Henley sued DeVore for copyright infringement. "My colleagues and I brought this lawsuit to protect our music from being taken and used, without permission, to promote someone else's agenda,” he said in statement. “It was not a question of political ideology, but the right of artists to control the use of the works they create, and protect their livelihoods." —Jeff Royer
