Justin Timberlake - ‘Cry Me a River’
While Timberlake refuses to admit that this pointed song was directed at ex Britney Spears, the evidence is overwhelming. Not only did the track surface shortly after the power-couple’s breakup, but its tragic storyline played out nearly identically to their real-life relationship. Any ambiguity was erased with the debut of the song’s video, featuring a Britney look-alike with references to Spears’ tattoo and more.
Sample Lyric: “You told me you loved me / Why did you leave me, all alone / Now you tell me you need me / When you call me, on the phone / Girl I refuse, you must have me confused / With some other guy / Your bridges were burned, and now it's your turn / To cry, cry me a river”—Jeff Royer
