RIAA vs. Napster

Napster founder Shawn Fanning wasn't dreaming in 1999 when The Recording Industry Association of America sued his file sharing service in a lawsuit that dragged on for over seven years. In August of 2007, Napster representatives ended the last of the company's lawsuits when they agreed to pay the National Music Publishers Association $130 million to settle the remaining copyright claims.—Xfinity Music Programmers (AP Photo/Paul Sakuma)
