Don't Resolve to 'Save More Money'
A good New Year's resolution is ambitious but achievable, says psychology professor Robert Epstein. When you resolve to "save more," you haven't established any goals or specific actions to keep yourself on track. Instead, set an amount for how much you'd like to save per week, paycheck or month, and then decide how to make it easier. For example, consider a direct deposit to your savings account and what spending habits you'll need to cut.
