Forbes: Hotels of the Future

Hotels of the Future

A gleaming triangular tower in Zhengzhou, a low-rise strip of suites burrowed into the grassy landscape surrounding Sao Paolo, and a diamond-shaped beacon in Bucharest from starchitect Zaha Hadid are among a crop of spectacularly designed hotels on the horizon. Mexico’s Mayan Riviera (with a design by Richard Meier), Singapore, and, of course, Dubai, are also among places with some architecturally stunning hotels in their future.

Design curator Donald Albrecht, whose resume of major exhibits includes the 2002 “New Hotels for Global Nomads” (Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum), says the new additions prove that hotel architecture is indeed a vibrant field.
