Stop Stressing

We’re sure you’ve heard this by now -- stress causes belly fat (and it may also cause you to indulge more, making it tough to stick with a healthy eating plan). “One reason why it’s tough to burn fat around your middle is because of stress,” says Dr. Oz. “Fight-or-flight hormones send the body a message telling it to hold onto excess padding.” But there is no need to pop a pill to prevent it -- relieving stress can be as simple as starting a regular exercise routine, trying meditation or enjoying a good laugh with friends.
