: "Superman Returns" (2006)
Brandon Routh landed the coveted role of Superman in 2006’s “Superman Returns.” The film did well at the box office and a sequel was announced, but never came to fruition. Routh’s contract to play the superhero ran up in 2009 and he was not asked back for the most recent installment. “I would have liked to done another movie. I love the character, and the fans are great. It has been an amazing family to be a part of. I feel like I still had more to do, and to grow as the character,” Routh told MTV. “But Henry [Cavill] is a great actor and has done a nice job. I’m happy for Superman fans that they get another film.” The 33-year-old most recently appeared in the 2012 film “Crooked Arrows.” —XFINITY Entertainment Staff
