How's the Family...In 1988, actress and comedienne Roseanne Barr broke new ground with her ABC sitcom "Roseanne," which centered on a blue-collar Illinois family named the Conners. The show dealt with subjects no other sitcom would touch, including race, obesity, infidelity, feminism, social class, gay rights, alcoholism, teen pregnancy and domestic violence. As the first real family on television, Roseanne and the Conners were a huge hit and went on to produce nine seasons.
