The comedian was once a sure thing, now with stinkers like "Meet Dave" he's practically box office poison. Murphy has a chance to turn it all around though with his latest, "Tower Heist." If the film is a hit and he follows it with a successful performance as Oscar host, he'll be back in Hollywood's good graces.
Hollywood's Most...To compile our list we used information gathered for the Celebrity 100 to look at the last three non animation movies each actor starred in over that last three years. We added each actor's upfront and backend pay on all three movies to come up with a total compensation number. We then added up the operating income of the three movies to come up with a total operating income number and then divided total operating income by total compensation. Each return on investment number represents how much the studio is paid for every dollar invested in the star.

Denzel Washingto...Washington's recent films have earned decent money at the box office. Unstoppable brought in $168 million. But when the film costs $100 million and Washington is getting paid north of $12 million, a film needs to do better than that for Washington to offer a good return on investment.

Reese Witherspoo...The Oscar winner lands fourth on our list mostly thanks to last year's "How Do You Know." The romantic comedy, which costarred Paul Rudd, Owen Wilson and Jack Nicholson, cost an estimated $120 million to make and earned only $50 million at the global box office.

Will FerrellFerrell breaks his streak as Hollywood's most overpaid star thanks to last year's "The Other Guys" which grossed a healthy $170 million. Unfortunately for Ferrell, he still has the albatross of "Land of the Lost" around his neck. That 2009 film earned only $70 million at the box office on a $100 million budget.

Drew BarrymoreUsually, stars offer poor returns on investment because they charge so much to be in each film. Barrymore is not one of the highest-paid players in Hollywood but her recent films have performed particularly badly. "Going the Distance" brought in only $42 million on a budget of $32 million.
