"I like really strong girls—and I get to be them for a few months," Lawrence told InStyle. That's not to say that the blonde-turned-brunette doesn't enjoy an all-out red-carpet moment: "I mean, I'm a girl. I'm excited when I look good."
The SAG award nominee (for her role in "Winter's Bone") hit the ceremony with dramatic shadow and an oversize bun. "I am very inspired by shapes and texture," hairstylist Mark Townsend told InStyle.com, "I wanted to play with having shiny height in the front." To finish her look, he added some Oribe 24K Pomade "for some actual glitter."
"Jennifer Lawrence's eyes were the focal point tonight," Avon makeup artist Jillian Dempsey told us of her Oscars look. "I played them up with lots of mascara and sultry black liner." Layering the four neutral tones in the Avon Blushing Raisins Eyeshadow Quad, Dempsey created a sculpted and structural eye that still managed to feel soft and smudgy.
The blonde went brunette for her lead role in "The Hunger Games." "I think I just have to stay tan," she told EW of the adjustment. "Or I'll look like the girl from 'The Ring.'"
"I've had the idea of weaving [Jennifer Behr] headbands through her hair for months," hairstylist Mark Townsend said of Lawrence's premiere look. "It was so satisfying to see my vision come to life."
