A startling total of five actors are commonly cited as being victims of the creepy “Superman curse.” George Reeves, Bud Collyer, Lee Quigley, Kirk Alyn and Christopher Reeve all met untimely deaths after portraying the man in the red cape. Only two “Superman” actors, Dean Cain and Brandon Routh, are still living.
Other victims of the curse include Kate Bosworth, who blames her split with longtime love Orlando Bloom on her role in the film. Margot Kidder, who played Lois Lane opposite Christopher Reeve, went missing for several days in 1996. She was found by police in a delusional state and was later diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Comedian Richard Pryor, who starred as villain Gus Gorman in 1983’s “Superman III,” died in 2005. Christopher Reeve’s widow Dana, a non-smoker, also died unexpectedly at the age of 44 after a battle with lung cancer. —Xfinity Entertainment Staff
