Want and heart, however, are things that can’t be measured. “You’re five foot nothin', a hundred and nothin', and you have barely a speck of athletic ability. And you hung in with the best college football team in the land for two years…in this life time you don’t have to prove nothing to nobody except yourself.”

BEST: 5. 'Rememb..."Gary, if you want to play on this football team, you answer me when I ask you, 'Who’s your daddy?' Who’s your daddy, Gary? Who’s your daddy?" The answer is you, and the "you" is T.C. Williams coach Herman Boone. With no blueprint on how to solve racial disharmony on a football team, Boone breaks everybody down before building them back up.

BEST: 4. 'Friday...The players that suited up for Permian High in West Texas work so hard to be perfect, they should be pulling down a paycheck. Instead, all they get is coach Gary Gaines and his "joy in your heart" speeches. “Gentlemen, the hopes and dreams of an entire town are riding on your shoulders. You may never matter again in your life as much as you do right now.” No pressure there.
