"I'm just a backwoods Barbie, too much makeup, too much hair," Dolly Parton sang on a recent album. "But, don't be fooled by thinkin' that the goods are not all there." Indeed, the goods are more than there. In her four-decade career, the 66-year-old superstar has charted 25 number-one hits, sold 100 million records and even opened her very own (enormously successful) theme park. Her frankly artificial beauty, from her platinum wigs to her Coke bottle figure, are just part of her ample charm. "People say, 'Are you offended by the dumb-blonde jokes?'" she joked on "The View." "And I say no, because I know I'm not dumb and I know I'm not blonde." The 9-year-old grew up in Sevier County, Tennessee with 11 brothers and sisters. "If we ever had any makeup in the house," her mother once told People of the budding beauty, "Dolly'd grab it first." (CREDIT: Michael Ochs Archives/Getty Images) See the Full Story
"I always wanted to be prettier," Parton has said of her teenage self. "I got to fixin' myself up. I wanted my clothes tight, my makeup bright, my nails long, my lips red. I got into it." (CREDIT: Nancy Barr/Retna) See the Full Story

Parton related to her misunderstood sexpot secretary character in "Nine to Five." "I'm not selling sex," she said of her unabashedly va-va-va-voom style. "The magic of the whole thing, is that I am one way and look another." (CREDIT: Walter McBride/Retna) See the Full Story

"I've always loved makeup, and it's something I understand," Parton told People of her signature makeup line. "You can do it in good taste, but if you want to look like the town tramp like me, you can." (CREDIT: Jim Smeal/WireImage) See the Full Story

"I'm in the public eye, so I don't care who knows what I get done," the ageless Parton said of her beauty regimen. "If I see something sagging, dragging or bagging, I get it sucked, tucked or plucked. It takes a lot of money to look as cheap as I look." (CREDIT: Rick Diamond/Getty Images) See the Full Story
