Mike Tyson made international headlines after he decided to get a tribal tattoo... on his face. The retired boxer allowed ink artist S. Victor Whitmill to apply the permanent design in 2003. “I planned to put a bunch of hearts,” Tyson told Katie Couric during an interview. “A friend of mine said, ‘Mike, I think we need to get some tribal stuff going on.’ The guy, Victor, said ‘I’m not going to do no hearts on your face. I won’t do that. That’s not going to look good or represent me well.’ So we look up some tribal stuff and then I see it and say, ‘Yeah, that’s good. I like that one.’ And then we decided to do it and that’s what we did.” —XFINITY Entertainment Staff (Photo by Stephen Lovekin/Getty Images)
