Ever the skeptic, Joan Rivers never really believed in ghosts. After one devastating year (she was fired from her job and her husband committed suicide), Rivers decided to leave Los Angeles and move to New York. She bought an apartment in an ancient, broken down building. Rivers recalls a hot August night when she woke up out of her sleep and walked in to her ice cold apartment. She saw strange writings and pornographic pictures drawn on the walls. Scared, Rivers went to speak to the landlord about the incident. He told her that Mrs. Spencer, the woman who used to own the apartment, often comes back to haunt the residents of the building. Rivers says her dog would not enter the apartment. She eventually called a voodoo priestess from New Orleans who exorcised the spirit from the apartment. —XFINITY Entertainment Staff (Andy Kropa/Getty Images)
