Early LifeBeyonce Giselle Knowles was born on September 4, 1981 in Houston, Texas. Beyonce started singing at a very early age, and competed in several talent shows and school musicals. In the late 1980s, Beyonce and Kelly Rowland formed a group called “Girl’s Tyme.” The group performed on “Star Search” to gain national recognition, but they unfortunately lost the competition. DepressionUnknown to many, Beyonce went through a small phase of depression soon after Destiny’s Child won their first Grammy. 'Dangerously in ...After the split, Beyonce starred as Foxxy Cleopatra in “Austin Powers in Goldmember.” The film made over $73 million. Beyonce’s first single that she was featured in reached the top ten on the Billboard chart. She performed the song, “'03 Bonnie & Clyde” with her then-boyfriend Jay-Z. In June 2003, Beyonce released her debut solo album, “Dangerously in Love.” The album has sold 11 million copies worldwide, and it is still her best-selling album. 'I Am... Sasha F...Beyonce married long-term boyfriend Jay-Z on April 4, 2008 in New York City. The ceremony was very private, and Beyonce opened up about her marriage during the debut of her third album, “I Am… Sasha Fierce.” The album has sold seven million copies worldwide and it became her third consecutive number one album in the US. Beyonce’s top singles in the album were “If I Were a Boy,” “Single Ladies” and “Halo.” The album helped Beyonce achieve the most top ten singles than any other female singer during 2001-2010. 2008-2010In December 2008, Beyonce starred in the film “Cadillac Records” which was based on singer Etta James. The movie gained international praise and Beyonce was nominated for several awards. She also had the privilege of performing Etta James’ song “At Last” in January 2009, for Barack Obama’s first dance with Michelle during his inauguration. In March, Beyonce went on her second tour, “I Am… Tour,” which made an outstanding $119.5 million after performing at 108 venues. Beyonce broke the record of most Grammy awards won by a female artist in one night by winning six out of her ten nominations. Later that year, Beyonce and Jay-Z announced at the MTV Video Music Awards that they were expecting their first child. Fans took to Twitter to react to Beyonce’s announcement; Twitter received a phenomenal 8,868 tweets per second, breaking the record of most tweets per second recorded for a particular event. 2012On January 7, 2012, Beyonce gave birth to her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter in New York.
