Significant African-American Women in Entertainment

Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj’s career boomed right after she released her first studio album in 2010, “Pink Friday.” She had seven singles on the “Billboard Hot 100” at the same time, making her the first female solo artist to achieve that incredible feat. Minaj’s second album was released in 2012 and it sold one million albums worldwide making it one of the best-selling that year and her third album may be released later this year. Not only is she a talented singer, but Minaj’s outlandish style has made her a fashion icon all over the world. Minaj was also named 2012’s Woman of the Year by “The Source” and many have also labeled her as one of the most influential female rappers. —XFINITY Entertainment Staff
