12. 'The Dictato...Going into Oscars Sunday, we thought the drama surrounding Sacha Baron Cohen’s costumed appearance at the Academy Awards had been settled. And, essentially, the Academy said, “No way.” Yet, the actor showed up fully dressed as his “Dictator” character General Admiral Alladeen, flanked by two beautiful women and holding the supposed ashes of Kim Kong Il. And then he dumped those ashes on Ryan Seacrest. And the red carpet. 11. Angelina Jol...Few stars made as much of an Oscars impact as one of Angelina Jolie’s appendages. The “Salt” star strutted onto the stage to present last night and, in one jaw-dropping moment, dipped her hip revealing the sky-high slit in her dress. Moments later, while accepting the award for Best Adapted Screenplay, screenwriter (and “Community” star) Jim Rash struck the same pose, sending the crowd into a fit of laughter. 'In Memoriam'...Before the 2012 “In Memoriam” segment, which honors the members of the film industry who passed away in the last year, the audience was asked to hold their applause until the end of the segment out of respect for the individuals. Normally, each person gets applause with a varying degree of enthusiasm, depending on how recognizable they are. But, this year, that changed - thanks in part to the live musical performance by Esperanza Spalding and a clean, classy video package that nearly cut all film clips from the montage. 7. Woody Allen's...Sure, this shouldn’t seem like a surprise, considering he never comes to award shows, but you couldn’t help but wonder if he’d make an exception for Hollywood’s biggest night. Sure enough, Woody no-showed. Sure enough, Woody won an Oscar. TJ Martin Dro...After winning the award for Best Documentary Feature, “Undefeated” filmmaker TJ Martin stunned the crowd by saying the win was “f****** amazing.” The word went un-bleeped in the Oscars Press Room, getting a huge groan from the attending journalists, but the word was caught by the censors before going out to the masses on delay. 2. Billy Crystal...After last year’s disastrous experiment with dual hosts Anne Hathaway and James Franco, it was nice to get back to something more familiar. Billy Crystal was in true form, rolling out his classic movie parody opening and the monologue song-and-dance number. The biggest surprise, however, came in the form of Crystal’s jokes, which were edgier than most people are used to, but absolutely slayed the audience.
