Comcast has been made aware of a scam where individuals pretending to be employees of AlertSoft are contacting subscribers via telephone. The caller states that their company number is 609-531-0750. They then direct the customer to a website under the grounds that they have detected an infection on their computer. Once the caller has directed the consumer to this site they are instructed to run a remote desktop tool. This tool allows the scammer to remotely access your system and view your personal files. Do not under any circumstances download this tool. If you should receive a call from this company hang up immediately. Do not follow any directions that are asked of you, and do not purchase any support options. close
Comcast Security Assurance is currently aware of a Comcast Business Services Support telecommunication scam directed at Comcast subscribers and the postal notice contains information for Advantage Telecommunications Corp., PO Box 415891, Boston, MA 02241-5891 to contact 1-800-841-4614 or e-mail service@service-us.com. The scammers claim that the accounts are past due and requesting payment. This is a scam and subscribers should not provide any personal information and discard the notice immediately. The scammers claim to be calling from the disconnect department of Comcast and attempting to gain account information including the billing address and claiming the account would be disconnected. This is a scam and subscribers should not provide any personal information and discontinue the call immediately. We have recently been made aware of a scam where a call is received from someone claiming to be an extended family member in Mexico. The caller will be vague and wait for a name to be mentioned. Once the victim is convinced he or she is speaking to a relative, like a cousin or nephew, the caller claims to be having some sort of emergency in Mexico and requests several hundred dollars. If you receive a call of this nature please hang up the phone immediately and do not give out any information. close
