This month, Cinema Asian American on Xfinity On Demand presents Ernesto Foronda and Silas Howard’s romantic comedy, “Sunset Stories.” After much-talked about screenings at film festivals around the country, from SXSW to the San Francisco International Asian American, the film is now available to audiences nation-wide.
This month sees the release of the independent feature “Daylight Savings”, which features Nakamura in the leading role; no longer on-stage, but in front of the camera. The follow-up to 2011’s SXSW hit “Surrogate Valentine” (also starring Nakamura), “Daylight” is the second collaboration between director Dave Boyle and Nakamura.
When acclaimed director Dave Boyle and musician Goh Nakamura teamed up in early 2010 to begin working on a film with Nakamura as its leading man playing a fictional character named “Goh Nakamura”, neither knew that both 2011’s “Surrogate Valentine” and its 2012 sequel “Daylight Savings” would take SXSW by storm.
June not only marks the kick off to summer, but the start to a whole season of exciting new movie releases and also, a new offering Cinema Asian America, which will each month highlight the filmmaking of a different Asian American community.
