I know it’s only January and most of us have only just come back from celebrating the holidays, but I’m ready for a vacation! I know it’s not realistic so early in the year so I will have to stick to travel dreaming for now.

They set “The Blacklist” in Washington, but in truth it inhabits a Manhattan studio where “Law & Order” lived for two decades. Judging from its out-of-the-gate robust ratings, good reviews and swift full-season pickup, this new NBC crime thriller could be settling in for a long stay of its own.
“The Blacklist” continues as one of the top-rated new series of the Fall TV season, starring James Spader as Raymond “Red” Reddington, a former member of the U.S. intelligence community who’s gone rogue and is selling information to the highest bidder.
“The Blacklist” begins when Red Reddington (James Spader), a former government agent who went over to the dark side and has been on the FBI’s Most Wanted list for decades, walks into FBI headquarters in Washington, D.C. and surrenders. Of course, it can’t be that easy, or there would be no series.
At first glance, “The Blacklist” bears an obvious resemblance to “The Silence of the Lambs.” Here’s a brilliant, twisted captive playing cat-and-mouse with a young female cop. Each wants something from the other in this dicey partnership.
There are a couple new names on “The Blacklist.” The NBC drama from Sony Pictures Television has just cast Hollywood icon Isabella Rossellini in a guest-starring role, TheWrap has learned.
