Madonna has slammed British rapper M.I.A.’s offensive finger gesture during her Super Bowl show as juvenile, negative and out of place.

Madonna’s Super Bowl halftime extravaganza saw an outpouring of praise from fans and critics alike. But Her Madgesty had at least one detractor in Piers Morgan.

On last night’s big post-Super Bowl season premiere of “The Voice”, Tony Lucca was the last to take the stage, and he sung a fantastically soulful rendition of “Trouble” by Ray LaMontagne. He told Carson Daly that he wasn’t sure that judge Christina Aguilera was going to recognize him from their days when they were on “The Mickey Mouse Club” together.

“The NFL hired the talent and produced the halftime show,” NBC spokesman Christopher McCloskey said. “Our system was late to obscure the inappropriate gesture and we apologize to our viewers.”

Madonna positioned herself as the queen of a new generation of pop stars at the Super Bowl halftime show – complete with throne – but didn’t have complete control of her show.

Madonna was on “The Tonight Show” to plug her Super Bowl halftime show, her movie “W.E.” and her new album. Jay Leno brought up her infamous performance during the 1984 MTV VMAs where she crawled around in a wedding dress while singing “Like A Virgin.”
