Every summer during the Television Critics Association bi-annual press tour, CBS, The CW and Showtime throw a huge party attended by the stars of all three networks (all owned by CBS Corp.). But the soaps were never a part of the fun until this year when numerous stars of “The Young and the Restless,” as well as the few “The Bold and the Beautiful” actors who were in Los Angeles during the show’s production hiatus, mingled with the stars of “NCIS” and “Masters of Sex.”

Some of “Guiding Light’s” most memorable episodes will be available on DVD in 2012. We Love Soaps reports that Soap Classics, the division of Broadway Video Distribution, which acquired the rights to all of the Procter & Gamble soaps, will release a twenty-episode DVD set in mid-January.

It’s the time of the year when soap characters visit Christmas tree lots, have holiday themed weddings that would doom them to a lifetime of combined anniversary/Christmas presents if their marriages lasted, and give each other elaborate, expensive gifts.
