One of NBC’s beloved sitcoms will remain a part of its Thursday night comedy lineup for another season, while four struggling sitcoms get the axe.

Where once the post-holiday schedule was a blizzard of chilly reruns, January is aburst with premieres and finales. Already, the much-adored British miniseries “Downton Abbey” has made its much-awaited season return Sundays on PBS.

“We thought: What is an amazing contrasting place to putting a bull in a china shop and we thought the White House is kind of the biggest china shop there is,” explains creator/executive producer Jason Winer.
