After a coast-to-coast search and thousands of auditions, judges Mary Murphy and Nigel Lythgoe and choreographers Debbie Allen and Adam Shankman selected the best of the bunch and revealed the Top 20 (10 male, 10 female) finalists of Season 9.
“So You Think You Can Dance” returns for a ninth season tonight with several big changes. Chief among them are a new condensed format (now eliminations and performances will air in one show), and a double dose of winners — one male, one female.
A new season of “So You Think You Can Dance” is set to debut this week, just as one of the show’s stars is being swept into the headlines for what appears to be one ugly lawsuit.
Alex da Silva, who was a choreographer on the FOX reality hit “So You Think You Can Dance” during its first four seasons, was sentenced to 10 years in prison, according to TMZ, on charges that he raped and assaulted former dance students.
According to a tweet from executive producer Nigel Lythgoe, the results show for “So You Think You Can Dance” has been canceled.
