OWN may have had a shaky start when it debuted on New Year’s Day three years ago but it’s since made up for it and black female viewers played a key role.
Over the past 24 hours we learned that former South African President Nelson Mandela died at the age of 95. It’s still very hard for some to accept his passing. Though Mandela, who fought against South Africa’s apartheid regime, was on my list of people I’d like to meet, we never would.
Toni Braxton and Kenny ‘Babyface’ Edmonds, who together have an all-time total of 16 Grammy Awards, are preparing to release their first album of duets entitled “Love, Marriage & Divorce.”
I don’t think Chalky White is really about that life. Nope. Too bad he didn’t realize this before his oldest daughter, Maybelle, was fatally shot. Pretty sure many viewers didn’t see that one coming. Sunday’s “Boardwalk Empire” season 4 finale was full of surprises like this.
“Scandal” was something else last night! And Olivia Pope’s mother, Maya Lewis, is serious. Kerry Washington guest-hosting “SNL” has been a top discussion for the past 36 or so hours. Overall, I found Washington’s appearance a welcomed surprise. She showed her acting range by allowing her comedic talents to come forth. I liked the cold open addressing the show not having any black female cast members.
Many thoughts galloped through my head as I watched last night’s “Boardwalk Empire.” It was no doubt one of the most intense episodes we’ve seen in a while. As I noted last week, given how Jimmy Darmody went out two years ago, I wasn’t sure if Chalky White would make it out alive.
In an illuminating interview airing this Sunday on “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” Arsenio Hall reveals that his return to late-night TV was far from certain. In fact, it took him five years to do it. Watch …
