The weekend’s here and this is what’s making the rounds: Kerry Washington hit up “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” chatting about her baby girl, “friendly” status with the Obamas and singing in high school; Joe Morton talks about his Emmy nod for “Scandal;” and NeNe Leakes wants to join “The View.” Plus, there’s my watchlist and what’s hot (“Iron” Mike Tyson and Thelonious Monk biopics) and not (tossing a baby from a moving car). Take care!

“Scandal’s” Kerry Washington and Joe Morton spill the beans

Anticipating “Scandal’s” return? Well, you don’t have to wait eight weeks–yes, eight!!–to hear from the Popes. Kerry Washington (you know, Olivia Pope) chopped it up with Jimmy Kimmel Thursday while Joe Morton, who will forever be known as Papa Pope to many, chatted with “Access Hollywood’s” Shaun Robinson about playing the nefarious B-613 head. With new mama Kerry, she gushed about her baby girl Isabelle, who’s named after one of her grandmothers, and shared that she’s been down with President Barack Obama from jump. “He actually joked in his speech about how I wasn’t a come-lately fan. I’m not a jump-on-the-bandwagon person. I was there pushing the bandwagon out of the mud uphill in the very beginning,” Kerry says, explaining  that she participated in a DNC fundraiser where Obama was the headliner last week.  Watch the video below to find out the tie another famous Obama supporter had to Kerry’s adolescence that the “Scandal” star said made her “one step away from coolness” in  high school. For many, honey, you’re the epitome of cool.

Now,  Joe talked with Shaun about prepping to play the Emmy-nominated role of Rowan “Eli” Pope. Of the five questions that he asks himself no matter what he’s doing, the last two–”What do I want and to what extent am I willing to go to get it?”–are the most important, especially when playing Papa Pope. I’ve been a fan of Joe’s since the ’80s and became an even bigger one after watching him on NBC’s “A Different World” and in “Terminator 2: Judgement Day.” So, it’s pretty cool to see him getting his props for his “Scandal” role. Check out the rest of the convo between the lovely Ms. Robinson and Mr. Morton below.

NeNe Leakes would love to be a co-host on “The View”

NeNe Leakes is apparently is a rich, …Well, you know, how her famous saying goes. Girlfriend’s seriously on her grind and collecting coins. Her HSN clothing line mostly sold out on the same day it debuted earlier this week. Not bad, Mrs. Leakes. Not bad at all. Plus she and all of her fellow Real Housewives of Atlanta” co-stars will return for the upcoming seventh season. Yes, Phaedra Parks, too, according to more recent reports. So all seems well for NeNe… sort of. She recently expressed her dismay about returning “The View” host Rosie O’Donnell reportedly having a contract clause that forbids any reality TV stars from being her co-host. NeNe told “Entertainment Tonight” that she doesn’t get it, comparing working on the ABC morning show to working on “RHOA.” I would kind of be disappointed to hear that she’s like ‘I don’t want any reality stars,’” she says, adding the two hosted Anderson Cooper’s daytime talk show together. See NeNe explain her case below.

The Hot List: Who/What’s Hot, Not
HOT: A possible Thelonious Monk biopic (My dad plays his music and I play his son’s, T.S. Monks! Also, Denzel Washington, Bill Duke and Don Cheadle have all expressed interest in the leading role. ).
NOT: Father and son, Samuel Walker Sr. and Samuel Walker Jr., being gunned down days apart in Chicago (…).

HOT: Jamie Foxx reportedly playing “Iron” Mike Tyson (Hmmm… we know his “In Living Color” co-star Keenan Ivory Wayans had a hilariously awesome Mike Tyson impersonation.).
NOT: Richard McTear, 27, of Florida, tossing his girlfriend’s 22-month-old son out the window of a moving car (…).
