We’ve been counting down to tonight’s second season premiere of “The Fosters” since last week and new episodes finally start tonight on ABC Family.
The series, which focuses on a family grounded in love more than biology, has been a favorite of critics and fans alike since premiering last year and despite a little dust from groups like One Million Moms, the fact that this family is headed up by two bi-racial lesbian women (played by Teri Polo and Sherri Saum) is not the main point of this touching, heartfelt, funny and often compelling drama that, if anything, shows us what a true family is made of.
Last week, you first saw our collection of on-set interviews with Maia Mitchell (Callie), David Lambert (Brandon) and Polo (Stef) followed by my chats with Saum (Lena) and Hayden Byerly (Jude). Today, the final two interviews are here with Jake T. Austin (Jesus) and series creators Peter Paige and Bradley Bredweg.
First up, Austin talks about Jesus’s biggest challenge this season and whether he’s going to be able to stay off his meds and live a healthy life.
Next up, creators Paige and Bredweg talk about the reception of the series, the accolades its received and they also teased some of the key storylines coming this season (which, at one point, prompts Paige to laugh at my off-screen jaw-dropped expression at one development).
“The Fosters” airs Mondays at 9pm on ABCFamily.
