Greetings and salutations! Lots to report today including Oprah Winfrey exclusively sharing her thoughts on Dr. Maya Angelou’s death with “Entertainment Tonight” while her ex-stepmom shared how she was evicted from her home and Lupita Nyong’o  is cast in “Star Wars Episode VII.” Plus, there’s my watchlist and what’s hot (Whoopi Goldberg’s late mother, Emma Harris) and not (the teacher killed by a stray bullet). Enjoy!

Oprah nearly breaks down while talking about Dr. Maya Angelou. ”I have absolutely no regrets. None,” Oprah Winfrey tells “Entertainment Tonight’s” Nancy O’Dell about the passing of Dr. Maya Angelou before quickly adding, “Don’t make me cry Nancy, don’t look at me. Look at the floor.” The interview was the first time the media maven had spoken to anyone other than her best friend Gayle King and longtime beau Stedman Graham about her beloved friend and mentor’s transition. Oprah–who was in costume as a civil rights worker on the set of her film “Selma”–continued, explaining “it is so well with my soul because I celebrated her life.” She last spoke with Dr. Maya, who died last Wednesday, May 28, the Sunday before she died. Oprah goes on to share how loved she was. And I can attest to that. When I had lunch with Dr. Maya at her Winston-Salem, N.C. home 18 months ago, I noticed a few individuals who stopped by the yellow-painted residence to say they loved her or drop something off for her. They seemed to know her very well, were of varying ethnicities and genuinely seemed to love her and care about her well being. It really made me smile. And to Oprah’s point, I think it is important to express your truth for individuals in the present moment if for any reason than for yourself. Who wants to be riddled with guilt for things unsaid that were really on your heart? Been there. Done that. Rather not repeat it again. Sure it’s nice to appreciate people posthumously. But wouldn’t also be nice to love on them while they’re still with us here? Just my two cents. Watch “ET’s” interview with Oprah below.

And while we’re talking about Lady O and mother figures… Oprah’s ex-stepmother Barbara Winfrey recently talked to “Inside Edition” about the media maven evicting her from the million-dollar home she once shared with her ex-husband, Vernon Winfrey. Oprah gave the home to her father and Barbara as a wedding present, according to “Inside Edition,” and now that the two have (bitterly) divorced, Oprah wanted her gone from the property. This interview is the latest of several that Barbara’s done about this matter and all I have to say is girl, let it go. It really seems that Barbara wants the home and Oprah didn’t give in (other reports say Oprah offered her a less expensive home that she turned down). In the video you see her hauling her belongings away from the home like the opening of “Sanford & Son.” I don’t know Barbara’s situation (she’s a retired school principal) but that seemed a bit dramatic? I ask her the same question that I asked when news broke about Beyonce’ Knowles 4-year-old half brother Nixon and his mom Alessandra Wright moving into public housing: where is your family? I mean, where’s your mom and siblings or in Barbara’s case, your own children? I know, I know, there’s probably so much more to both of these stories. What I’m unsure of is whether these interviews will get these women what they really want. Watch Barbara’s interview below and decide for yourself.

Yep, Lupita joins new “Star Wars” film. Well, hot damn, it happened after all! A few months ago I shared (along with several other media outlets) that Hollywood darling Lupita Nyong’o could be joining “Star Wars Episode VII.” And when other cast members had been confirmed many were a bit disappointed when Lupita’s name was left off that list. Until now. No word on who she’ll play or whether the character will be vital. I’ll tell you this much her fans (and those of this hot franchise) will turn out regardless. Watch more about her casting below.

On my watchlist? What I’m tuning in to see and what I’ll catch up with XFINITY On Demand…
“Orphan Black”: I got a little behind watching this show and will be catching up online. It airs Saturdays at 9 p.m. EST on BBC. Watch it here.

“Power”: I’ve seen this new Starz series starring Omari Hardwick a couple of times but will watch it again because I always seem to discover something new. It premieres Saturday but you can watch it early now online or with XFINITY On Demand here.

The Hot List: Who/What’s Hot, Not
HOT: Whoopi Goldberg’s mother Emma Harris (I’ve always loved when Whoopi talked about her mother, who died four years ago. She seemed so awesome!).
NOT: Ray J being arrested for battery, trespassing and vandalism at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel (Nothing left to do but to SMH…).

HOT: Kimora Lee and Djimon Hounsou’s son, Kenzo (This cutie just turned 5. Wow, time sure does fly.).
NOT: Chicago teacher Betty Howard killed by a stray bullet that hit her while she was at her second job in a real estate office (…).
