Not only are we celebrating the arrival of the weekend today, but it’s Memorial Day weekend! I have friends coming by to BBQ later tonight and watch a movie. A great option is “Captain America: The First Avenger” airing at 8pm on FX. The adorable Chris Evans stars as Steve Rogers, a WWII soldier who volunteers for a military experiment that transforms him into a superhero. He uses his newfound abilities to protect America from a villain known as the Red Skull (Hugo Weaving).
Are you wondering where the “Bye Felicia” joke started? It goes way back to the 1995 comedy “Friday” starring Ice Cube and Chris Tucker. Craig (Cube) and Smokey (Tucker) are two guys in Los Angeles hanging out on their porch on a Friday afternoon smoking, drinking, and looking for something to do. The antics that go down are hilarious but it’s the comedic chemistry between the entire cast that made this an instant classic.
Guillermo Del Toro‘s “Pacific Rim” will be airing also at 8pm on HBO. Mankind creates human-controlled robots to fight giant monsters that have risen from the sea, and a burned-out pilot and an inexperienced rookie are forced to work together to save the world from the beasts. Bonus: Charlie Hunnam…that is all.
Did you see the premiere of “Gang Related” last night? No? Watch it right now below:
