Dustin Lance Black in 2009

Out.com reports that Dustin Lance Black, the Academy Award-winning screenwriter of “Milk” who was invited, then uninvited, to be commencement speaker at his Alma Mater, Pasadena City College, due to the sex tapes that circulated back in 2009. Black, never one to stand down from a fight, has penned a letter to the school.

Orphan Black:” One of the perks of my job is I often get asked what shows people should be watching and since last Spring, the answer has been this BBC America thriller about a woman named Sarah (Tatiana Malsany) who finds out she’s part of a cloning project. The first season is one of the best of any series and it’s the perfect time for a little binge session because Season 2 kicks off Saturday night at 9pm. If you missed it earlier in the week, I talked with co-star Jordan Gavaris about the new season and, as if that weren’t enough, here is a season one recap. Trust me on this one – dive in!

“The Normal Heart:” HBO released a trailer for the much-anticipated film, which airs May 29th and stars Mark Ruffalo, Matt Bomer, Jim Parsons, Taylor Kitsch  and Julia Roberts.

Scandal:” I had the pleasure of speaking with actor Jeff Perry, who plays Cyrus Beane over on “Scandal,” which had it’s season finale last night. He talked about finding out that his on-screen husband, played by Dan Bucatinsky, was going to be a casualty and more. What did you think about the season finale last night? Tweet me @JimHalterman and let me know!

Parenthood:”  One of the complaints I’ve personally heard about the long-running NBC family drama is that in the show’s five seasons, nary a gay character, story or mention has been part of the fabric of the show…until last night.

In last night’s fifth season finale, college-aged daughter Haddie (played by Sarah Ramos) came home for a visit and came out to her mother, played by Monica Potter. Here’s the scene from last night’s season finale.
