SPOILER ALERT

It’s the weekend and I have lots to share: My thoughts on the “Scandal” season 3 finale, “Scandal” creator Shonda Rhimes visits “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and my watchlist (“Orphan Black” returns!) plus what’s hot (Idris Elba and girlfriend welcome a new son) and not (Columbus Short’s recent radio interview). Enjoy!

“Scandal”…OK, first, let me start off by saying that the last three episodes made up for the first couple that aired for its midseason return. And the third season finale was pretty cool, too. It had a few shockers I didn’t see coming (Baby Jerry’s death) and a few that were expected (c’mon,  you know Papa Pope didn’t off Mama Pope). All in all, it made for a fun Thursday night viewing experience.  What stood out to me out of everything? Listening to the dialogue between the characters. I mean, that ish really sounded crazy. Think I’m exaggerating? See for yourself.

 • First Lady Mellie Grant’s reaction to the possibility of hubby Fitz Grant losing his reelection: “I want a refund. I want our money back. Whatever your fee is, whatever ridiculous amount of money we have wasted on you. Why did we hire her? ‘Cause I thought we hired her to win.”

 • Olivia Pope to Fitz when it seems he’s giving the “last big speech” he’ll ever give: “My mother blew up the church that’s costing you your presidency. I shouldn’t be there.” Ah, ya think?!

 • Abby Whelan exclaiming, “Ah, God Lord, my eyes!” when she and Harrison Wright walked in on Huck Finn and Quinn Perkins getting it in on the conference table. Oh, by the way, they didn’t even bother to clean up the large blood stain left on the floor from Papa Pope’s stab wound. Really?

 • Ex-B613 Command Jake Ballard’s conversation with David Rosen, US Attorney for the District of Columbia,  about Fitz’s Chief of Staff Cyrus Beene’s decision to allow the church bomb to go off: “Rosen, I killed three people right in front of you. I’m not a good guy:

My favorite exchange? Why, the tender moment between Olivia and her father, of course. No Sunday dinners, just him hooked up to tubes, recovering from a near-fatal knife wound compliments of his wife, Maya Pope aka Marie Wallace.

Papa Pope: “Olivia, tell your dad what’s wrong.”

Olivia: “We’re going to lose the election. Fitz is going to lose and I can’t fix it or make it OK. I thought I could repair what we did; I thought we could win clean but we’re going to lose.”

Papa Pope: “I wish there was something I could do to help.”

Olivia: “You don’t want Fitz to win, you hate him.”

Papa Pope: “I do not like him. Olivia, I do love you and I want you to have everything. Everything you deserve. So when I say ‘I wish I could help,’ I do wish I could help. I wish I could help you.

Olivia: “I was scared when I saw the blood, when she stabbed you, I was scared.”

And help, he did! But I won’t tell you how. You have to watch for yourself. I will offer you this hint: it’s revealed in the final minutes. “Scandal” is officially on summer break and won’t return for another five or six months. Rewatch your favorite episodes from season three here.

P.S. It seems that Harrison’s fate wasn’t resolved yesterday. Do you think Shonda Rhimes will let Columbus Short’s recent indiscretions be the deciding factor on whether Harrison Wright lives or dies? She did say on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Thursday that she’s the one who makes the decision about whether a character’s killed off or not.  Watch those clips here.

On my watchlist? What I’m tuning in to see and what I’ll catch up with XFINITY On Demand…
“Orphan Black”: I stumbled upon the first season a year ago and fell in love. Season 2 premieres Saturday at 9 p.m. EST on BBC. Watch it here.
“Love in the City”: I’ve seen the first two episodes of this series and think you should, too. It airs Saturdays at 10 p.m. EST on OWN. Watch it here.
“Game of Thrones”: After the Purple Wedding, I have to see who’ll take the fall. Heads will roll, I suspect. It airs Sundays at 9 p.m. EST On HBO. Watch it here.
“The Real Housewives of Atlanta”: I’ve been reporting about the cast’s shenanigans all week and now we get to see more drama unfold during the reunion show. It airs Sunday at 8 p.m. EST on Bravo. Watch it here.

The Hot List: Who/What’s Hot, Not
HOT: “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kandi Burruss and new hubby Todd Tucker attempting to have a baby (Well, this is some good “RHOA” news because I’m sure Sunday’s reunion episode will have us shaking our heads.).
NOT: Columbus Short’s interview on “The Tom Joyner Morning Show” this morning (Yeah, it sounded a bit… strange. I don’t suspect he’ll being doing any more any time soon).

HOT: Idris Elba and girlfriend Naiyana Garth welcoming baby boy, Winston (Congrats!).
NOT: Charges being pressed against homeless mom Shanesha Taylor who left her two young sons alone in the car while going to a job interview (I don’t think her intention was malicious. Would be nice if authorities considered that.).
